Hotspot-Box with Ruijie Reyee
Ruijie Reyee RAP series access points work with Hotspot-Box directly. Through Ruijie Cloud or the device's local interface you attach the guest SSID to the box's LAN side or to the guest VLAN; the login screen, SMS verification and Law 5651 records stay on the box. Do not use Reyee's own guest authentication features. Cloud and local interface menu names differ and change with firmware, so we describe each setting by its function.
The one setting that changes on the AP
Tag the guest SSID onto the VLAN that exits to the box's LAN and turn off Reyee's own authentication/portal feature on that SSID.
Step by step
- 1
In Ruijie Cloud create the guest SSID under your project; enter the VLAN ID that reaches the box's LAN.
- 2
Carry that VLAN tagged on the switch port the RAP hangs off; with a Reyee switch it is configured in the same project.
- 3
Leave the SSID's authentication / portal option off so the Reyee cloud portal stays disabled.
- 4
Turn on client isolation so guests cannot see each other.
- 5
Make sure neither a Reyee gateway (EG series) nor cloud DHCP hands out addresses on the guest VLAN; the box does that.
- 6
Test: join the guest SSID, the box's screen should open, and the SMS code should get you online.
Common traps
If Reyee's cloud-based guest authentication stays on, guests see two screens and the box's Law 5651 record is incomplete.
If a Reyee EG gateway NATs the guest VLAN itself, traffic skips the box; the guest VLAN must exit via the box.
RAPs can mesh with each other; in a mesh the guest SSID must keep the same VLAN ID, or guests on the remote AP get no address.
The quick-setup wizard in the cloud app may enable DHCP on the AP or gateway; check after setup.
Ceiling RAP models differ in PoE needs; underpowered, the 5 GHz radio shuts down and guests fall back to 2.4 GHz.
Frequently asked
Does it work without a Ruijie Cloud account?
Yes. The RAP's local interface offers the same settings. The cloud only makes bulk management easier; guest login always happens on the box.
Reyee has its own voucher and SMS authentication. Why the box?
Reyee's authentication alone does not provide the time-stamped, chained record structure Law 5651 expects, and guest data stays in the cloud. With the box, records stay on-premises, on the box.
Can I connect a RAP as a RADIUS client?
On models with RADIUS support, yes; the AP is registered with the box as a NAS. Bridge mode is enough for most businesses.
