Guests who stay, institutions that get audited
Guests at a guesthouse or teachers' lodge stay several nights. They want to connect with the same phone in their room, the lobby and the dining hall; being asked for a new password or code every day turns into a complaint. Reception is usually one person, and running a network is not their job.
On the institution's side the need is different: a solution that can be written into a tender or direct-purchase file, with clear capacity, no annual fee surprises and no billing by user count. The technical specification has to answer where the records will sit, who will verify them and whether Turkish support exists.
When an audit comes, saying 'we keep records' is not enough; you need to show the records are intact. That calls for a signed archive and a readable verification report.
Law 5651 and public accommodation
An accommodation facility that offers its guests internet access is a collective-use provider under Law 5651, expected to keep internal IP assignment records, protect them with a timestamp and retain them for 2 years. In public facilities the institution's IT unit usually wants those records on the premises; the box keeps them on the device in the facility, not in the cloud, and can write a second copy to the institution's own SFTP/FTPS server. The staff network is kept separate; records cover guest traffic only. Take legal advice on the regulations and internal rules specific to your institution.
This page is not legal advice; confirm your obligations with your legal adviser.
Installing at the facility
- 1
The box is installed between the facility's internet uplink and the core switch; existing modems and APs stay, with no extra AP licences.
- 2
A single guest SSID on its own VLAN is broadcast across the room floors, lobby and dining hall; guests roam the whole facility with the same phone.
- 3
The staff network (reception PC, institutional software, cameras) stays on a separate VLAN and does not pass through the box.
- 4
Devices such as lobby TVs and shared printers run without the portal via MAC exemption.
- 5
The institution's IT gets the authorised role in the panel and reception gets a coupon-only role; the second archive copy is directed to the institution's server.
Sign-in method
Sign-in method
- SMS code
- Coupon
- Remembered device
Guests receive one SMS code on arrival; device remembering means no further codes for the rest of the stay. Guests without a phone, or with a foreign number, receive a coupon from reception valid for the length of their stay. Recommended plan: the long-stay template, 15/5 Mbps, 24-hour session, 3 devices, 5 GB per day, 7-day device remembering. You set coupon validity to match the stay.
Ready-made plan templates
Speed, session and device count are set per plan on the box, independent of the access point brand. The values below are our own lab recommendations and can be changed in the panel.

Example scenario
Example scenario: a 60-room teachers' lodge
- Problem
- Reception handed every guest a password written on paper, unchanged for years. The institution's IT team was in the provincial centre and could visit once a month. There were no signed records to show an audit.
- Solution
- A box was installed in the facility's cabinet and the floor APs were moved to the guest VLAN. The long-stay plan was applied; with 7-day device remembering, guests received one code for the whole stay. Reception got a coupon role and the archive copy was directed to provincial IT's SFTP server.
- Outcome
- Guests connect with the same phone in their room and the lobby. Provincial IT monitors the facility's health from the panel without travelling; at an audit the archive is verified with one click and handed over as a ZIP with its verification report.
An illustrative example; no real business is named.
Frequently asked
What capacity and licence model can we write into the specification?
Box + Software: 45,000 TL + VAT, perpetual licence, 250 concurrent devices. There is no charge by user count and no annual renewal fee. SMS cost is separate; you can buy credit packs or connect the institution's own SMS provider account. If you already run a virtualisation platform, the same software is available as a Virtual Appliance.
Do the records leave the institution?
No. Records stay on the box, in the facility; they do not go to the cloud, abroad or to us. Only the day's SHA-256 digest is sent to the timestamp service, never the record content. If you wish, a second copy is written to the institution's own SFTP/FTPS server.
What do we show at an audit?
In the panel you select the date range and start verification; the box checks the chain and timestamps and produces a readable verification report. The export ZIP contains day folders, record files, a SHA-256 manifest and the RFC 3161 timestamp file, and can be verified independently with openssl.
Does a guest staying several nights get a code every day?
No. With device remembering set to 7 days, the guest takes one code at arrival and reconnects automatically for the rest of the stay. If the phone has MAC randomisation on it may ask again; in that case reception issues a coupon valid for the length of the stay.
Are the panel and support in Turkish? Can our staff use it?
The panel is in Turkish and support is given in Turkish. Reception gets a simple role limited to issuing coupons; everything else stays with IT. Every action is written to the audit trail.
